Fruitfulness is not merely the result of greater activity. It is the outcome of remaining connected to the right source.
THE DAILY READING · 2–3 MINUTES
THE DEVOTIONAL
John 15:5 teaches that fruitfulness begins with abiding. Jesus is the vine, and we are the branches. A branch does not produce grapes by struggling harder; it receives life by remaining connected. In the same way, a crowded schedule is not proof of a fruitful life. We can stay active, accept every invitation, and exhaust ourselves while neglecting prayer, Scripture, rest, and the relationships that sustain us. The Greek word menō, translated abide, means to remain or continue. Remaining in Christ is not passivity. It is a daily practice of trusting His Word, obeying His teaching, and allowing His character to shape our choices. Examine the fruit of your efforts. Are you growing in love, wisdom, patience, integrity, and service? Multiplication that lasts is not simply doing more things; it is bearing more meaningful fruit from the right source. Before adding another commitment, strengthen the connection that gives your work life. Stay connected. Stay fruitful. Let God bring the increase.
THE SHIFT IN REAL LIFE
A ministry leader accepts every opportunity to serve, answers messages late into the night, and gradually loses time for prayer and family. Although the schedule is full, the leader feels spiritually drained. They begin protecting daily time with Christ, delegating responsibilities, and choosing assignments with greater discernment. The number of activities decreases, but their attention, relationships, and service become healthier and more fruitful.
